Origins of Bosnia: Identity, Peoples & Early Civilisations

BHCAC invites young British Bosnians to the first session in a six-part, bi-monthly series exploring Bosnia’s history, culture, and shared heritage — delivered as part of a one-year programme for British Bosnian Youth London (BBYL).

Designed to deepen understanding and pass knowledge on to future generations, this session provides a clear and engaging introduction to where Bosnia’s story begins — and why it still matters today.

Whether you are reconnecting with your roots or exploring them for the first time, you are warmly welcome.

What You’ll Explore

• Bosnia’s historic regions: Bosna, Hercegovina, Krajina, Podrinje, and the Sandžak connection
• Early civilisations, including the Illyrians and the medieval Bosnian state
• Stećci (UNESCO-listed medieval tombstones) as symbols of identity
• Traditions of coexistence between religious communities
